The Radioimmunoassay Core provides technical services and help for immunoassays and the development of immunoreagents. Members of BADERC can access commercial clinical immunoassays for measuring a wide range of analytes in human serum or plasma. Additionally the Core is experienced in adapting these systems to measurements using animal serum or plasma. Additionally, the Core provides in-house and commercial radioimmunoassays that have been established for many years in Dr Habener’s laboratory for metabolic studies in animals and humans. The Core Director currently directs all clinical immunoassays at the MGH and can coordinate testing using these systems for BADERC projects requiring clinincal immunoassay support. The most frequently requested tests and current costs are listed below. Finally, for projects capable of generating sufficient numbers of tests to offset set-up costs, the Core can perform essentially any radioimmuno- or immunometric assay commercially available. These options can be pursued by contacting the Core Director.

Thus, the Radioimmunoassay Core also maintains a monoclonal antibody facility that can be accessed by Members of BADERC. This facility can support investigors in the preparation of immunogens and immunization strategies as well as the generation of hybridoma cell lines and the purification of monoclonal antibodies. The Core is experienced in the development of immunoassays and immunoreagents based upon mouse monoclonal antibodies. These services are interactive and costs will depend on the extent of Core support required.
