My research program is on the neural circuits that control basic life functions, including sleep-wake, circadian rhythms, thermoregulation, feeding and metabolism, and stress. In particular, we have identified circuits in the brain controlling circadian rhythms of feeding and thermoregulation (which is a major participant in energy metabolism).
